The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) is responsible for the UK’s airspace. They have produced a Drone Code.
In Summary, the Code says that:
- the drone must always be within sight of the operator
- the drone must be kept below 400ft (120m)
- the operator must always follow the manufacturer’s instructions
- a drone must not be flown within 150ft (50m) of people or property
- a drone must not be flown within 500ft (150m) of crowds and built-up areas
- the operator is legally responsible for each flight and failure to fly responsibly could result in criminal prosecution
Clearly, there is nowhere on the Hanham Hall site where all those rules could be obeyed and therefore the flying of drones is prohibited.
