According to the police a Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) scheme is the best way to help tackle crime by reporting suspicious activity to them and passing on alerts to neighbours re criminal activity in the area. Criminals look out for NHW signs as they know people who live in these areas are likely to be more vigilant and report suspicious activity. This is why many residents have NHW stickers on their windows, and there are a number of NHW signs on lamp posts around the development.

If you have a concern about something occurring on the estate (or elsewhere) then call the Police using 101. If it is an emergency or if a crime is actually in the process of taking place, call 999. The Police encourage the public to contact them if in any doubt, as what may appear minor to you may help to establish a pattern within a wider perspective both within and beyond the estate.

Call 101 if you have a concern. It helps the Police build up a profile of an area and see patterns of behaviour

Neighbourhood Watch in Hanham Hall

Hanham Hall has had a NHW scheme in operation since 2015. Because of the size of the development and different areas, a number of people have volunteered to act as contacts (see below.) A few more are still required in Malpass Drive, Reade Close and the start of Roman Way. To become a contact you will need to fill in a short Community Messaging Authorisation form with your name, address, email and phone number which will then go on the local NHW system.

To find out more please speak to one of the following NHW contacts who lives near you:

  • Roger Armsden, 77 Roman Way
  • Chris Goss, 7 Rogers Court
